  1. We started with a good note of salutations to Pillayar!

Okay! Do you know the meaning of "PARPPU"?
PARPPU in chaste Tamil is a bird.A bird is twice born;once the egg comes out of the mother bird;again the bird comes out breaking the egg shell! So also a Brahmin! His birth from his mother's womb is his body's birth. Then when his 'upanayana(poonool ceremony') takes place and 'Gayathri mantra' is taught, he is spiritually reborn. That is why he is called "Dwija"(Twice Born). He is compared to the bird and called 'Parppu'.That is how 'Parppan' came to be the name for our community. Though it is now used in a derogatory intonation, let us take it in a lighter vein.Think of my explanation whenever
you face a situation where you are called a "Parppan"! Be cool and gentle!Relax!

  2. Thirumooler uses he word 'parppan';ofcourse it was in a high philosophical sense.

    "parppan agathile parpasu ainthundu
    meipparuminri verithu thirivana
    meippanum vanthu veriyum adanginal
    parppan pasu ainthum palaichoriyume"

Here 'parppan' is used in the sense of 'seer'=a
visionary.Meippan is a preceptor,Guru. The 5 .'parpasus' are our senses.
Do you have any evidence of the word'parppan'
    used elsewhere? Share your knowledge.

  3. This blog has the title 'parppu'. Infact the title will be more correct if I had written it as 'paarppu' with double 'a' after the first 'p'.
Or I should have made it as 'pArppu' which would have been more appropriate.
The 'paa' is 'nedil'. Okay that much for Tamil grammer. I am weak in that area.

  4. OUR GANESHA MOORHY IS SYMBOLIC OF THE 'ANAHATHA' SOUND. THAT MEANS, 'OM' SOUND.ALL RELIGIONS ACCEPT FIRST TO APPEAR WAS SOUND. THAT SOUND WAS RECOGNIZED AS 'OM' IN BHARATHA. SO THE DIETY WHICH REPRESENTS 'OM' IS GIVEN FIRST PRIORITY IN OUR WORSHIP.

DO YOU KNOW THE INDONESIA IS A MUSLIM NATION,
HAD PRINTED VINAYAKA IN ITS CURRENCY,AS ALSO
THERE IS 'BANK OF GANESHA' IN INDONESIA?
